Anybody know what they're doing with the old Tiger Market in BSG?

Arnie Riggs has it now and is eliminating several feet of the length at the front of the building to make room for more parking and to get rid of some of the wasted space that was always in the back.

I have the coca-cola Tiger Market clock that originally hung in the store on my wall not 8 feet from me.

So what about the Tiger market in Duffield? Whats the story on that one?

Are you talking about the Appco? I'm assuming yes, since that's the only one that's been closed. Appco filed for bankruptcy a few months back. They shut down the Clinchport, Duffield, and Woodway stores. The rest of the Appco stores around here are up for sale.

Yeah, I guess the Duffield location was an Appco the last few years or so. I, like alot of people in that area, still called it Tiger market. Anyways, I was surprised to see it was closed and was more surprised that none of my Scott county friends had told me about it closing. As for the Clinchport location store I would have thought it would have been closed years ago. I won't say I hated that store but I did avoid it at all cost. Super great people and I had no problem with the fuel or any prepackaged goods from there. It just stunk to high heaven.

The Tiger Market in BSG wasn't an APPCO store. It was Rogers Market - completely different owner. He also owns the market across the road from the BSG Dairy Queen.

Appalachian Oil did supply the gasoline to Rogers Market and when Appalachian Oil went down Rogers Market went down with it.

That store was an Appco at 1 time. The problem also wasn't just gasoline, it was also with their credit cards. Somehow their credit card machines were in Appco's name or something and when all that crap went down, they couldn't accept credit cards. Bill Rogers told me the reason he closed that store and it was for none of the ones we've mentioned though.\

And Carolina, you're right on Clinchport. It stunk to high heaven. A former manager told me it was the sewer constantly backing up.
